Our Four Diamonds Children
The Alpha Delta chapter has been paired with Josiah and his mother Erika since Fall 2014. He was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in July 2014 at the age of 9. After intensive treatment, he went into remission in August of that year. Although he will have to take Chemo pills every day for 2 years, we are elated to say Josiah is a healthy 11 year old boy!

We have been paired with Josiah Garcia since July of 2014 when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and was hospitalized for much of the remaining year. With the love and support of his mother, Erika, and with over 60 Chi Phi brothers by his side, Josiah was finally able to come to THON in 2017 after being unable to go previously due to his hospitalization and a mumps outbreak on campus in 2016. Josiah finished treatment on November 28th, 2017! As of 2023, Josiah has been paired with Chi Phi for nearly a decade and holds a special place in the heart’s of all those who have been a brother in the Alpha Delta Chapter. Today, Josiah is a happy 18 year old who recently graduated high school and loves nerf, laser tag, and basketball.
On February 10, 2022 two weeks before Adley's 2nd birthday she was diagnosed with acute B-cell lymphoblastic leukemia, a common cancer among children ages 1-10. Adley is still battling cancer today and is currently in interim Maintenance two. Despite these battles Adley is one of the happiest, funniest, and most cheerful children the brothers of Chi Phi have ever had the privilege to meet. She was far enough along in her treatment to be able to come to THON 2023 and had a blast. She also came to the THON 5k this fall and completed the entire race!! Adley is currently 3 years old and her end of treatment date is May 16, 2024!
For the Garcias
Mina Horan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2017. In july of 2019 she rang the bell and was officially cancer free!! She has now been cancer free for 4 years and is a happy, energetic 8 year old. Recently the Horans came to our THON tailgate and mina ran around playing tag with the brothers and climbing up on top of their shoulders. In November we all came to dave n busters to celebrate her sisters 3rd birthday. Mina ran around from arcade game to arcade game laughing the entire time. The brothers of Chi Phi are honored to be able to call the Horans one of our THON families and Minas bubbling personality lights up everyone's day each time we get to see her.
